Q. I am trying to open ports to a program and a video game. I read some walkthroughs where I added some ports to the Firewall settings through the contral panel... Still nothing worked :(.. I have a 2wire router which I am thinking port forwarding should do the trick right? So there is two ways you can get what you need. You can have all the ports open to one computer. That means you should have a good firewall on the computer itself. This will fix any problem you might have with ports. I would also suggest you only do this on a temporary basis. The other alternative is port forwarding. There is a list of some common games and one of these may do the trick for you. There is also an option to create custom profiles for various programs to forward needed ports. Often the hard part is figuring out what ports are needed since some game companies don't publish port use information.
