News is the communication of information on current events which is presented by print, broadcast, Internet, or word of mouth to a third party or mass audience.

History of news reporting

In its infancy, news gathering was primitive by today's standards. Printed news had to be phoned in to a newsroom or brought there by a reporter, where it was typed and either transmitted over wire services or edited and manually set in type along with other news stories for a specific edition. Today, the term "Breaking News" has become trite as broadcast and cable news services use live satellite technology to bring current events into consumers' homes live as they happen. Events that used to take hours or days to become common knowledge in towns or in nations are fed instantaneously to consumers via radio, television, cell phones, and the Internet.

How can I become a successful news anchor?
Q. I want to become a news anchor. I have the looks, talent, and willpower, but I need to know what else I can do to be successful. I don't necessarily want to become famous, but I would like to support myself adequately. What can I do to assure success, and how long will I have to work to become a news anchor?

A. You have to be very competitive and good at doing stuff fast. Being able to quickly do a story and be articulate. Be able to interview people well and make them feel important when you interview them. You will most likely be a reporter before you be an anchor. A lot of it is luck too so good luck!!!

Q. What is the cheapest way to get news articles on my website legally? Any maybe regionally news too?

A. You can hire a freelance writer to pen some for you or you can use article submission directories. Those directories let you post their content for free, but you must leave the author's information on it and you cannot claim it as your own work. With stuff you purchase from a freelance writer, you can.

Is there a daily news summary prepared by the White House or Congress that's available to the public?
Q. I remember hearing somewhere that either Congress or the White House (or both) prints a summary or clipping service of various news accounts for the President and/or members of Congress. Is that true and is it available to the public?
