What are the best settings for the Sony Bravia LED TV for watching blue-ray movies?
Q. What are the best settings for the Sony Bravia LED TV for watching blue-ray movies?
Asked by Nick - Tue Mar 16 23:27:32 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Make sure you're set an auto mode for your resolution (default) to ensure you're receiving 1080p resolution. This can be checked by pressing the info button on your remote. Also avoid the vivid color setting under the picture options. This is often set as default and although it looks brilliant, the colors are not true to the picture and this setting will shorten the lifespan of the TV. If you're in a dark room try the cinema mode or simply standard for the best looking colors.

can I watch blue ray movies on a regular tv?
Q. I really do not want to go out and buy an hdtv anytime soon, so I was wondering if there's any way to hook up a blue ray player or ps3 some other way to my regular, standard tv. Now, there are three different looking ports in the back: pinkish red, blue, and green. I've heard something about component cables and them hooking up to hdtvs. Are they the same colors as the colors above. Can I watch blue ray on a regular tv set?
Asked by Clint F - Mon Apr 20 23:35:33 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Yes you can, but if it's not high-definition it won't look any different than a regular DVD. I strongly recommend using the component cables, which do connect to the green, blue, and red ports. Just to clarify, CRT is not the same thing as standard-definition or non-HD. There are (were) a number of HD CRT's and are/were a number of SD plasmas and LCD's.

A. I am in need of something like you, i fell in love when i seen the laptop, it will have everything you will need. Will play top games, CoD4, Crysis, can watch Blu-Ray movies effortlessly, and can surf the internet easily, and its within price range. Acer Aspire 8920G. Cheapest link : Also if you think it costs to much, you can get an Acer Aspire 6920G for only 681.01, and it can play top games, and surf the internet, the only down side is it doesnt have a Blu-Ray drive, but if you shop around you should be able to find one.

Can blue ray movies be played on a dvd up-converter ?
Q. I saw a good deal on a 5-disc dvd up-converter, but also want to know if you can play blue ray on it. If it does it would allow me to to also listen to cd's (shuffle), watch the dvd's that I have now, and also watch blue ray movies.

A. No, you cannot. Blu-ray DVD players are "special". you can play blu-ray discs on only on ps3 and the blu-ray player.

Do you need a full HD monitor to watch downloaded blue ray or HD movies?
Q. OK, I'm getting a gaming PC and want to know if I need a full HD TV to get the benefits of the graphics, and also whether I need one to watch downloaded HD/blue ray movies on. I will pick a best answer!
Asked by Definitely Maybe - Sat Aug 8 19:26:56 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Yes and no Yes- a HD TV or a big computer monitor in general will have a higher resolution, meaning more pixels per inch This means you can see the detail better on high resolution on big monitors/TVs because Blu-ray movies contain more data than standard DVDs No- You can still play a BLu-ray movie on a standard monitor of lets say 17" (like mine) but some of the detail will be lost as the resolution is smaller than the recommended display for the movie (ie its shrinking the movie size to display it on a smaller screen) :D hope that clears things up!

can i watch blue ray movies???
Q. i have a 62 inch toshiba thats 1080i does that mean thats its going to look super good when watching blue ray movies or is that 1080p whats the real difference between the two and how is the picture going to look on such a large screen thanks my tv
Asked by Rafael - Sat Apr 19 21:41:29 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. 1080p is a progressive scanned image (60 frames per second) and 1080i is interlaced (each frame update only writes every-other line; first all the odd lines are written, then all the even lines; the net is only 30 full frames per second). 1080p will give you the best detail and sharpest image on a 62" TV screen, but your TV will not accept 1080p format (Blue Ray format). Your TV will only accept 1080i. Make sure that any Blue Ray player that you purchase can down-scale to 1080i or 720p, your input limit. Since your TV is only a 720p resolution, set your Blue Ray to output (down-scale) to 720p for the best results.

A. It will look fantastic. Most people cannot see the difference between 720 and 1080 and likely neither will you. Just tune your TV to a standard def channel for a while, then switch to the HD version of the channel to see 'real' quality improvement. 720 - is beautiful.

A. What you need to look for are TV's that display 1080p (not i) To be able to do this properly you need to find one that can display 1920x1080 pixels. The reason I mention this is that some of the cheaper 40" screens still only show 1366*768 pixels and these are only good for 720p I would recommend the Samsung LE40M87BD(X) model. This is a true 1080P TV and comes with a game mode. The picture quality is stunning and a very good price (not sure what it is in $ though!) Be careful to look for the M mode and not the R as the R is cheaper and only runs at 1366*768. When you get one ( ;-) ) get yourself over to avforums and do search - there is an owners thread that links you to the best picture settings. Out of the box they are okay, but… [cont.]
